Chelsea will host Liverpool in the aftermath of the sacking of their coach Graham Potter as they look to rebuild after stuttering along for the best part of the season. Liverpool, on the other hand, are in no better shape, as they come into this game on the back of a disastrous showing against Manchester City over the weekend.
Both these teams played out defeats in their previous matches and will be looking to overturn the result here in London. With manager Potter gone, Chelsea will hope that their fortunes turn around drastically. There is only a gap of four points between these teams at the moment, with Liverpool the higher-ranked of the two, with 42 points inside their kitty. Chelsea have 38 and are stationed at 11th at the moment.
Both teams have a wide range of injuries on their side, and this will hurt their chances tremendously. While the likes of Wesley Fofana, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta are surely missing out for the hosts, Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can still make the cut. For the Reds from the north, Naby Keita, Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara are some of the high-profile absentees.
Liverpool have not lost to Chelsea in the last five meetings that they have had with them: they have won two and drawn three.
